I’m Max. I run Moon Stone myself.

Founder-operated · Brooklyn, NY · max@moonstonetcg.com

I’ve collected since I was a kid, and I’ve spent a decade running ecommerce at brands you’ve heard of. Moon Stone is both of those at once: the store I always wished existed, run by one person who actually cares how the box gets to you.

01 · Where this comes from

I was the kid more into strategy games and odd music than whatever everyone else was into. That never really changed. What looked like a lack of focus was curiosity, and collecting was one of the things I could never put down. Moon Stone is that same instinct, pointed at the hobby I’ve loved the longest.

02 · One price, and it’s the real one

I believe the hidden cost of a lie is your own freedom. I try to live that at home, and I built Moon Stone to run the same way. There’s one price on every box, and it’s the live market price, the same number you can check on TCGplayer, linked right next to it. No scalper premium. No markup dressed up as a deal. I make nothing on the product; the membership is how the business works. Take the lie out of the transaction and there’s nothing left to keep track of.

03 · I do the work

Building anything real is mostly roadblocks. That’s what it looks like up close. I source every box myself, verify the factory shrink before it ships, and answer every email that comes in. If something is wrong with your order, you’re not talking to a queue. You’re talking to me.

04 · How I treat people

I used to think respect was something you earned first. I’ve come to think it’s something you offer first, a posture you decide to hold before anyone has proven anything. That’s how I want members treated here: fairly, from the first order, not only once you’ve proven you belong.

05 · Something I can stand behind

I’m a dad now, and it reset what I want to build: things I’d be glad to explain to my kids one day. Moon Stone is one of them. Collectors get the real thing, at the real price, from someone who stands behind it. That’s the whole idea. If it ever stops being that, tell me.
